Rehearsable Acumatica go-live cutover

For project managers and controllers · Scoped per engagement

Go-lives and reimplementations get one dress rehearsal — or none — because every rehearsal costs a week of manual tenant setup. The controller ends up signing off on spreadsheets nobody fully trusts.

You get. A cutover rehearsed until it is boring: full tenant rebuild, opening-balance load, and automated reconciliation — trial balance by account, AR/AP aging bucket totals, inventory quantity × cost against the GL control account — delivered as a report your client’s controller can sign. Day-one path exercise reuses an existing scenario suite when one exists; recon is the paid differentiator.

I rehearse cutovers on rebuildable hosts: GitOps Code, automated rebuild, opening-balance load, and reconciliation.

the obvious question

“Why not just one dress rehearsal the weekend before go-live?”

A single rehearsal still beats a pure cutover night with no practice. When setup is already cheap and the team is small, one weekend pass can surface the worst runbook gaps.

  • When setup costs a week, you get one attempt — or none. Manual tenant rebuild and balance load make a second rehearsal politically expensive. The team skips practice or burns the only dress rehearsal on setup mistakes.
  • Controller sign-off becomes spreadsheet faith. Without automated trial balance, AR/AP aging buckets, and inventory quantity × cost against the GL control account, the controller signs workpapers nobody fully trusts.
  • No loop to tear down and repeat until boring. Go-live stays a one-shot event. Failures on Monday are customer-facing instead of runbook fixes from a green rehearsal trail.

One weekend rehearsal when setup is already cheap and risk is accepted. Use rehearsable go-live cutover when rebuild, load, exercise, and controller-signable recon must repeat until production cutover is boring.

how it works

Rebuild → load opening balances → exercise critical scenarios → reconcile → tear down and repeat.

Nothing installs inside Acumatica. This is a cutover engagement with a controller-signable recon — not a one-night script you keep running alone. Same loop for reimplementation, Acumatica major-release upgrade, and multi-company cutovers.

A full tenant rebuild without a week of setup
GitOps Code rebuilds the company on a non-prod path you control. The dress rehearsal that used to cost a week becomes a loop you can run again the same day.
Opening balances loaded in the same loop
Masters and opening balances load as part of each rehearsal — not a separate weekend scramble. Historical transactional load is an explicit SOW choice, not implied by configuration alone.
Day-one business paths exercised before cutover weekend
Critical scenarios run on the rebuilt tenant after load — reusing a business scenario suite when one already exists. Failures name the step while there is still time to correct the runbook — not a phone call from a customer on Monday.
A reconciliation report the controller can sign — then tear down and repeat
Trial balance by account, AR/AP aging bucket totals, inventory quantity × cost against the GL control account — a trail the controller can sign. Tear down, rebuild, and run again until go-live is boring. Production cutover only after green rehearsals.

Work product stays in your repository. Rehearsals write only to agreed non-prod paths; production cutover only when prior rehearsals are green and the SOW says so. Hosted tenants use what you already have; full rebuilds need a lab you control — every engagement states which — and your Acumatica version is locked for the engagement.
